2016年12月31日 · Here is how I make .284 brass from 6.5 x 284. 1.) Run the 6.5 x 284 brass into your mandrel die. Back off the handle, lowering the ram, turn the case about 1/3rd turn and run it back up into the mandrel die. Do this about 3-4 times and you will feel the brass eventually go in nice and smooth.

2015年8月14日 · After you expand the 6.5 x 284 brass to .284, that is when you TURN down your necks and cut about 1/16 of an inch into the shoulder area. The "fold of brass" there created by the expansion of the neck will be cleared off, thus MINIMIZING, although NOT eliminating, the creation of a doughnut down the road.

2010年7月5日 · Re: 6.5-284 The original 6.5 X 284 was a wildcat based on the original WInchester brass. Norma decided to make it a production cartridge, and the dimensions vary slightly from the original Winchester brass mainly due to "lawyereze". Thus the 6.5 X 284 Norma. Most popular brass for the chambering is Lapua.
H4831SC in 6.5 x 284, what's too much? - Shooters' Forum
2017年9月3日 · I'm developing a new load for my 6.5-284. I've done some ladder tests using RL 17, in short I'm getting the velocity but not the accuracy I want. Another option is H4350 but I've heard people claim better accuracy with H4831SC.

2015年9月25日 · I can understand that for 6.5-284, since there are different versions. Lapua sells "6.5-284 Norma" specifically. But 300 WSM should be standardized. After all, it is started life as a proprietary SAAMI cartridge, not a wildcat. But any slight difference in unfired head dimension should be slight enough to yield easily to a FL die.

2012年9月2日 · Wilson does not make a gauge for the 6.5/284 but the 284 will work, some straight-line seating dies will work (like the Wilson) as long as the shoulder makes contact inside, but a regular gauge is better, Hornady makes a gauge that will work on your calipers or an Accuracy Gunsmith can make you one.
6.5x284 in a short action? - Shooters' Forum
2016年10月6日 · I think if you want a short action 6.5 you'd be better suited with a 6.5 Creedmoor or 6.5 X 47L. In a repeater the 6.5-284 seated to fit a mag box would put you nearly same as those 2 at least with 140 class bullets. To reach full potential I think a long action is the way to go.
6.5 x 284 - 4831SC | Shooters' Forum
2016年12月5日 · I have a custom 6.5-284 that was chambered for the Berger 140 VLD. I have gone up as high as 54grs of H4831SC before seeing pressure signs. My load is 53grs which gives me 2950fps and 1/4MOA out of a 26" barrel. Best thing to do is produce a load that works in your rifle. if You have a SAAMI chamber, you will never be able to safely shoot 53grs.
