GB Railfreight has announced that testing of the first Class 69's should begin on the Severn Valley Railway in January, with the locomotives entering traffic later in the year. Ten Class 56's are being converted into ‘69's’ by Progress Rail at its Longport facility, near Stoke-on-Trent. They are required to meet GBRf’s growing portfolio.

GB Railfreight unveil heritage livery for Class 69 locomotive
2022年2月17日 · GB Railfreight have today unveiled a new look for their latest Class 69 locomotive. The unveiling took place at Eastleigh Works and shows Class 69 No. 69004 in retro BR Rail Research Livery. The livery is to celebrate GBRf’s operation at RIDC Melton, which is a test facility for new technology in the rail industry.

2024年9月22日 · 69004 is named 'RIDC Melton' at the Asfordby Test Centre by Jack and Lee from GBRf. The loco is painted in a version of the old British Rail Research livery as a tribute to the Old Dalby test track (known these days as RIDC Melton), and now it carries a name to cement the relationship between GBRf and the test track. 22/9/24.

69004 is painted in a version of the BR Research Department livery as a tribute to the Old Dalby test track, now known as RIDC Melton. The loco visited the test track in order to be named as part of a friends and families day and is captured on the day of its arrival at the Asfordby Test Centre in company with 801101, 47749 and 387101.
