2008年9月20日 · It certainly does appear to eb a juke-box amplifier, and the added 6AG5 is probably a phono pre-amp to allow the machine to be retrofitted with a magnetic cartrige. tis unit appears to be a Mills form the late 1930's.

I was going through my late father's notes on the Hallicrafters SX-42. In the service bulletin, he wrote that at one time, he had replaced the 6AG5 tubes with 6BC5's. These are used as 1st/2nd RF Amps. What would the advantages/disadvantages be of such a substitution?

2010年3月16日 · Steve - I re-read the Rider information and you are correct, although they don't explain it very well. They do list the 6AG5's as 1st Converter and 2nd Converter and say the oscillator operates at 1/2 the received frequency minus 5.35 mhz. So what would normally be the mixer coil and tuning cap is really a tuning a signal in the 50 mhz range?
