2013年1月19日 · The 6BQ7A is a miniature, medium-u, twin triode primarily designed for use as a cascode radio frequency amplifier in very high frequency TV tuners. In this application, its performance is characterized by low noise figures and high gain.

Some 6BQ7's can be rather microphonic in a guitar amp but some are OK. 4 stages is not excessive gain either. There is a $100 guitar amp design challenge on this forum. One of my designs started out as a "18 watt Lite" with 6BQ7's and 6CW5's. it now uses a series string heater circuit to fit in the $100 budget.

Low-noise grounded grid RF amplifier. Replaced the 6BQ7 within 2 years of the 6BQ7 announcement. It has some 12% higher gain, the characteristics are otherwise the same.

2024年9月9日 · I'm finalizing the design of a RCA-type phono preamp with a cathode follower at both outputs. After reviewing several different tubes for this, the 6BQ7A seems to be a winner. Among other things, it exhibits reasonable filament draw, good transconductance and an HK rating of 300V with the cathode positive.

The 6BQ7A is an all glass miniature VHF double triode and is internally screened. A valve like this would be used for RF amplification, or frequency multiplication. In the latter case the valve is operated as a non-linear (Class C) amplifier. This causes harmonics of the signal frequency to appear in the anode current.
