The 6N6G is a double triode. One triode is a voltage amplifier and the second, directly coupled to the first, is an output audio triode. The output triode needs to work to a 7,000 Ω load and can produce 4.0 Watts of output. The grid bias is internally generated. The Brimar advert shows how to use a 6F6G to replace the difficult to obtain 6N6G.

The 6N6G is a heater type output tube comprising two triode units mounted in a ST-14 bulb. The smaller or input section acts as a driver tube for the larger output unit and is directly coupled to it. The input cathode and output grid are connected internally.

Here’s a nearly one of a kind amplifier; a single ended 6N6G. The 6N6G is a very early compactron tube, with a driver and an output stage in one glass envelope. A far more popular compactron tube for hifi is the 6EM7/13EM7.

2022年3月22日 · Here is a schematic of the first trial circuit that I've breadboarded. The 27s and 6N6Gs are AC-heated, all in parallel, using 0.56R/25W dropping resistors downstream of the 6N6Gs to get 2.5V for the 27s. The 27s are currently running at about 172Vp, 11.5Vk, or ~160Vpk @ 5.75mA. Rectifier is actually a 5R4GY. The B+ is about 323V.

2015年1月11日 · Remember the 6N6G is a twin-triode with the two triodes directly-coupled inside the tube with a little resistor. They didn't have a symbol for that, so just pretend it's there. Nothing? What, do I smell funny? 😉. The schematic in post #3 is in error. The first triode should be connected to the input stage and the second triode's plate to the OPT.
