2007年12月26日 · Does anyone know why the tail of the 777 is pinched vertically? The A.P.U is shunted out to one side, in contrast to the centered, rounded A.P.U. tail design of most other airliners. I haven't seen any other planes with such a uniquely shaped tail.

2024年8月25日 · LATAM Airlines Brasil Boeing 777 PT-MUG, flight TAM8073 from Milan (MXP) to São Paulo (GRU), suffered a tail strike during rotation while taking off. As a result, runway 35L was closed for inspection.

The jetliner is recognizable for its large-diameter turbofan engines, raked wingtips, six wheels on each main landing gear, fully circular fuselage cross-section, and a blade-shaped tail cone. The 777 became the first Boeing airliner to use fly-by-wire controls and to apply a carbon composite structure in the tailplanes.

The 777 is the widest, most spacious airplane in its class and includes improvements in airfoil technology, flight deck design, passenger comfort and interior flexibility. Its greater payload and range capability result in lower operating costs to airlines, and its standard equipment includes many features that are optional on other airliners.

2007年6月26日 · I remember reading that the 777's tailcone was blade-shaped because Boeing found out that this reduced drag. I assume that a change in shape from the DC-9 to MD -80 was made for similar reasons. But with the 787, Boeing has apparently gone back to a 767-style cone shape. Any thoughts on why this is? New developments in aerodynamics?

2024年7月9日 · LATAM flight LA8073, a Boeing 777-32WER, suffered a tailstrike during takeoff from runway 35L at Milan-Malpensa Airport (MXP), Italy. The flight entered a holding pattern before returning too MXP. A safe landing was made 1 hour and ten minutes after takeoff. Damages to the tail skid and two other points of contact were identified.

2015年6月6日 · The 777-300ER features a software based tail strike protection feature that reduces the commanded pitch input to avoid a tail strike. Other members of the 777 family to not have this feature, including the 777-300, although Boeing is looking into the possibility of rolling back the feature to the other models.
