The 79th Rescue Squadron is a United States Air Force combat search and rescue unit of the 563rd Rescue Group, 355th Wing, at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. It operates the Lockheed HC-130J "Combat King II" variant of the C-130 "Hercules" and provides rapidly deployable combat search and rescue forces to theater commanders worldwide.

2023年5月30日 · After periods of inactivation and reactivation, the 79th Air Rescue Squadron was redesignated as the 79th Rescue Squadron in 2003 and activated at DM under the 563rd Rescue Group, where it has remained since. With its fleet of HC-130J Combat King IIs, the 79th RQS provides multi-faceted global support.

The 79th Rescue Squadron operates the HC-130J Combat King II, the USAF's only fixed-wing dedicated personnel recovery platform, and provides rapidly deployable combat search and rescue forces to theater commanders worldwide.
