Captured 85mm anti-aircraft guns (52-k) were regarded by the Germans as prized trophies. Sufficient guns and ammunition were captured for the type to be taken into German service as the 8.5cm Flak M.39 (r ). Many were sent to German factories to be re-bored to accept standard 88mm ammunition.
