Suzuki DR125 was a dual-purpose machine released at the same time as the DR250. It was equipped with a newly developed 125cc 4-stroke air-cooled single-cylinder SOHC engine in a newly designed lightweight diamond frame.

The DR125S was presented as a 1982-year's model, suitable as an entry-level enduro bike. As for some other DR models, the DR125 available in different versions. At first, there were the pure trail version, DR125, with no license plate holder or mirrors, and the DR125S, a street-legal version of the same bike.

The DR125S was concidered as a teriffic all-round enduro bike for beginners in 1982. It was rather small and light compared to may of its contestors but its suspension was firm enough for even larger riders. It had a smooth and tough engine, not very powerful but the high quality of the clutch and the gearbox (six speeds) helped a lot.
