2021年5月30日 · Yes. XR2 can handle 8k 180 or 360 video. DeoVR (free), Skybox and Pigasus all are known for not having issues running 8k video. 8k 180 is really impressive; there's about a 1:1 ratio of encoded pixels for screen pixels. 360 is obviously halved (stretched for screen) in a dimension. The default Q2 upscaling seems quite simple/limited.

I also tried uploading my 8K video from all three browsers and it's only processing the video up to 4K. EDIT: I tried Edge and Firefox on Windows, and Firefox is showing 8K video from other creators, but my videos are still uploading at only 4K.

2021年7月26日 · When you use skybox, the video is being decoded natively on the Quest. The Quest supports 8k HEVC video playback. Using the Rift version of skybox is very different. You are basically decoding on the 3090, then encoded the file again. Afaik 8K encode is not even supported on the 3090.

I'm going to do a little more research and configuring to find out why my GPU utilization is only 30%+ I'm watching 8k in 1080p. I took 4 video recorded in 4k HDR and put them 2x2 and exported as 8K. The numbers line up. If I'm wrong please advise.

2020年9月29日 · Friends, as a result of my detailed investigations and trials, I have come to the conclusion that both 4K and especially the "8K video support" statement is a deception and is unrealistic. (We often see this statement in the promotions of video platforms that serve VR videos in 8K resolution.)
