2014年5月11日 · A 180 grain 30-06 bullet and a 196 grain 8mm bullet have the same sectional density. Norma loads the 180 30-06 cartridge to 2,700 fps and loads the 196 grain 8x57 cartridge to 2,526 fps. Sellier/Bellot load a 180 30-06 cartridge to 2,670 fps and their 196 8x57 to 2,592. All these loads above go about 2,850 to 2,950 muzzle energy.

For modern loadings, the major advantage of the 8mm Mauser is the fact that it copes with with 200 and 220 grain bullets a little better than the .30'06. The major drawback is that 8mm Mauser is loaded *WAY* down by domestic cartridge companies. I won't get into that here, though.

The U.S. liked the look of this,and ended up with the .30-06 loaded to 2700fps w. a 150g spitzer. The .30-03 was based on the 8mm case head, as is the .30-06. (The pre-1901 specs for the 8mm were - 236g. RN @ 2200 fps.)

2008年1月28日 · The .325 WSM is an 8mm rifle same as the 8X57 and 8mm Remington mag I just don't think Winchester wanted to label it a 8mm WSM as metric caliber tend to fail in the US. The .30-06 and 8X57 are roughly in the same category as far as power and game usage, where as the .325 WSM would be closer to the .338 Win Mag in terms of power and performance.

2008年5月15日 · The 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser) ballistics are very similar to a 30.06. I believe the 7.92mm has better range that the 30.06 but not enough to really matter. Accuracy is dependent on the quality of rifle and the ammo. If someone spent the money they could build a super accurate 8mm Mauser rifle.

So, you get a FRE (free-recoil-energy) of about 8.5 - 8.9 ft*lbs. As a side note, 8x57JS is approximately equivalent to full-power .30-06. The standard load for .308 is 150gr@2700 fps.
