8x10 vs 11x14 - Large Format - Photo.net
2003年1月10日 · If you find 8x10 prints too small, and you want to contact print, then 11x14 is the next common format, and to echo Jorge, with an 11x14 camera and an 8x10 reduction back you get the versatility of both formats plus 5x7,10x12,7x11 or any other format that will fit within the 11(or 14)x14 format with the addition of reduction backs and film holders.
11x14 versus 8x10 - large format photography
But the quality of 8x10 and 11x14 is exactly the same as contact prints -- one is just larger than the other. As far as photographing, 8x10 is much much easier than 11x14...especially in tight places. The lens used for 11x14 tend to be longer in focal length than those with 8x10, so some depth of field is lost as one moves up to 11x14, but ...
8x10 or 11x14 - large format photography
Hi everyone! I've posted to the site before regarding cameras. Im saving up for an LF camera. initially i figured "oh 4x5 would be plenty for the massive prints i eventually want to do" then i read on the forum about the massive increase in detail and tonality with 8x10 (if done properly) and i figured "well if i get a half decent 8x10 set up it won't cost …
11x14" vs. 7x17" - large format photography
Re: 11x14" vs. 7x17" I had an 11x14 for a bit but decided to sell it to afford the 7x17. The primary reason was that the boxy 11x14 ratio was so close to what I already had in 8x10 and I felt that the 7x17 pano format would complement what I was doing in 8x10.
Whole Plate (6.5X8.5) vs. larger Sized Cameras (8X10 and larger)
That's such a subjective thing. I find 6.5x8.5 to be qualitatively different from 5x7, while 8x10 just feels like an overgrown whole plate that's a bit too large and square. OTOH, the jump from 8x10 to 11x14 is once again a leap into a qualitatively different space, not just in terms of camera handling but visually as well.

Fuji still cuts Provia E6 film in 8x10 size, and I really recommend running through a box just for the joy of it. If you want to see what 8x10 or 11x14 delivers, check eBay for slides, or post a WTB in the For-Sale forum. You can get started with 8x10 or 11x14 contact prints using a pinhole camera and making contact prints.

4x5 vs 8x10 print quality - large format photography
2005年10月18日 · I've just completed a real world test for me between 4x5 and 8x10 formats. One 4x5 Linhof Technica with 150mm lens and one 8x10 Sinar P2 with a 300mm lens. Side by side at the same lens height focused on the same part of a very detailed urban landscape (buildings, trees, cement, piles of dirt, signage, tarmac, cars and people).

Fujinon W 180 & 8x10 - Page 2 - large format photography
2024年4月23日 · The NW 180mm lens is a different lens design from the W & W S 180mm lenses (6/6 vs 6/4), that explains the difference in !C (76° vs 80°) between them. But the question is the difference in the IC of the 180mm W vs the 180mm W S. It appears that the difference is because of the shutter used (Seiko vs Copal) -- see above post #14.
