9mm Major, also known as 9 Major, ammunition is loaded much hotter than typical 9mm rounds, exceeding 1,550 ft/s (470 m/s) to achieve a power factor of 165. This classification benefits competition shooters maximum magazine scoring. However, it is not readily available and dangerous to use in pistols not designed for such high pressure.

You might have heard of something called “9 Major.” It’s a wildcat load of the 9mm Luger intended only for competition pistols specially built to handle extremely high pressure. Nine Major is loaded to make “Major” power factor for practical shooting competitions like IPSC and USPSA.

9MM Major means the round has a power factor of 165 or greater. The rounds favored for this kind of competing are mostly, or I should say, vastly 124/125 grain bullets. A few use 115 grain bullets. One can make Major powder factor (PF) using a variety of powders. Shooters select different powder/bullet combinations for many different reasons.

2014年10月14日 · 3n38 is a pain, to full... Location:Alpharetta,GA between two ponds. Hello: There are better 9mm powders out there than 3N37. It is a barrel burner powder. It heats the barrel up a lot. You could try Winchester Auto Comp, Ramshot Silhouette or Hodgdon HS-6. All work better for me than 3N37. Thanks, Eric.

Looking for feedback on these powders, as this group has a substantial amount of reloading experience with 9 major for Open division in USPSA.
