When the engines are test run at the factory or dealership thay cannot take into account every load, current, etc., so some tweaking by the owner for the individual application,while underway, is normal.

2005年12月15日 · A guy at boaters world told me the other day that the 2005 and 2006 tohatsu 4 strokes are awesome motors, he says they weigh 82 pounds which is very light for a 4 stroke, and they are very effecient and reliable. I currently have a 1971 mercury 9.8 and it is getting to be less and less reliable.

2009年5月12日 · Re: Tohatsu Seized 9.8 HP 4 stroke I doubt you are bumping into the rev limiter. The rev limiter for the 9.8 is set to engage at 6250 RPM. The 9.8 also has a low oil pressure limiter. If it engages, the red light comes on, and the speed will then be limited to about half (roughly 3000 RPM), until the motor is shut down and restarted.

Stay away from the idle/low speed mixture screw, as adjusting it typically either masks another problem or causes one. Verify idle stop setting. Confirm you have fresh fuel.

WIth me, full tank, battery, oars, and a little wight in the bow, that's not quite 400, but close. I've clocked 19.8 on the GPS at WOT and about 17.5 at half throttle. With more weight, i.e., 450 to 500, 16 mph is easy at 3/4 throttle.

2016年7月2日 · Low oil pressure will limit RPM to 3000. If your oil is over full, it can foam up and cause low oil pressure. Normal temp for any 4-stroke OB is about 150F. Zebras would typically get into the inlet strainer area if the motor is left down in the water all season. They hate warm passages, so will not get in there while the motor is running.
