
No. 91 Squadron RAF - Wikipedia
No 91 (Nigeria) Squadron was a squadron of the Royal Air Force but is no longer operational. The name acknowledges the contribution made by Nigeria to the cost of the squadron's aeroplanes. A 91 squadron was initially formed in September 1917 at RAF Spitalgate but had moved to Chattis Hill within the month to undertake wireless telegraphy training.

No 91 (Nigeria) Squadron. Forming at Spittlegate on 1 September 1917, it moved to Chattis Hill on the 14th of the month. The squadron was involved W/T training being equipped with a variety of types for the purpose. This unit disbanded on 4 July 1918, but immediately the numberplate was transferred to a fighter squadron being formed at Kenley.

I did some work on Google last week which actually found quite a few mentions of his name and even a photo in a book called No 91 'Nigeria' Squadron by Peter Hall.

On the 11th January 1941 the Flight was renumbered as No. 91 and became a single-seat fighter squadron (Spitfires) undertaking shipping patrols, weather reconnaissance and air-sea rescue sweeps until new ASR squadrons took over these duties.

He commanded 91 Squadron from January to July 1942, and, after them, No. 72 Squadron RAF with whom he moved to North Africa. He then joined the Staff at Fighter Command HQ before assuming command of 322 Squadron RAF in 1944.

Born on 23rd February 1920, at the outbreak of war Bill Sizer was flying Hurricanes with 213 Squadron, after flying Guantlets with No.17 Squadron. The squadron flew to France in May 1940, where he scored his first victories, before being attacked by five Me109s and shot down.
