The Porsche 964 is a model of the Porsche 911 sports car manufactured and sold between 1989 and 1994. Designed by Benjamin Dimson through January 1986, it featured significant styling revisions over previous 911 models, most prominently the more integrated bumpers.

The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 was a limited production, performance focused variant of the Porsche 964 that was introduced in 1993. The RS 3.8 was built using a Turbo body, but was powered by a naturally aspirated 3.8L version of Porsche's M64 engine.

The 3.8-liter M64/04 engine powering the 964 Carrera RSR was rated at 325 horsepower at 6,900 RPM and drove the rear wheels via a five-speed transaxle with a 40% limited-slip differential. Porsche built 55 road-going RS 3.8 models to comply with FIA homologation requirements and 51 examples of the Carrera RSR 3.8.
