My '99 Silverado was afflicted with this too, but with 7000 miles on the odometer, the growl has all but disappeared on it's own. I'm not sure what has changed, but I've been driving on the same stretch of road where I most noticed it before, and I can't seem to discern it now, or if I can, it is very slight or inconsistent.

I ended up ordering a 99 Silverado LT 2WD Ext. Cab. Order placed mid-Sept, "preferenced" on 9/23, but no build date yet. If they don't get it built soon, I may cancel and wait for 2000 model in hopes for a 4th door.

I recently purchased a 1999 Chevy Silverado and the fuel pump quit within a week. Going the the internet I find it is a very common problem. One man said he went though 3 pumps in 30,000 miles. I love the truck and plan to keep it so connived a simple solution to changing the pump if and when it goes bad.

The vibrations are common with the 2wd xcab 1500 with the rack and pinion and 2 piece driveshaft. As far as '99 and '00 chevys showing up on used truck lots, just do a lemon check prior to buying. Personally, I've seen new versions ('99/'00) of all truck brands including Tundra, Ford and especially Dodge on used truck lots.

I have a 99 Silverado w/5.3L engine. The idle speed is too low. It gets as low as 430 rpm when I firsty put the tranny in drive and then the idle increases to a more acceptable level. There are no DTC's. This problem is most noticeable when you pull up to a stop. The engine rpm's get low enough to dim the lights and almoist stall the engine.

I have a 2001 chevy silverado 1500 5.3l v8. my 1998 gmc savanna van has a tranny quirk. when you accelerate from a stop you have to let up on the gas to shift from 1st to 2nd. it shifts fine after that until you slow down enough to drop back into first.have driven it many miles with this problem but it will still drive anywhere and back. any ideas? trans has 147,000 miles
