The A131 road is a road in Essex, England. [1] It runs from the A12 (Boreham interchange J19) to the A134 road at Sudbury. The A131 runs north from Boreham interchange along Beaulieu Parkway then west along Channels Drive, then north again along Essex Regiment Way (formerly A130). It then takes its current route near Little Waltham.

The scheme location is between Marks Farm Roundabout, at the junction with the A120 and the A131, and the Suffolk County boundary, just south-west of Sudbury. The route covers 13.5 miles (21.6 km) with two roundabouts, three mini roundabouts, a signalised junction, two zebra crossings and a signalised pedestrian crossing.

To the north, Section 1A of the bypass will join with a new east-west link road (Northern Radial Distributor Road), to be built by developers as part of the Chelmsford Garden Community. The link road will connect the bypass to the A131 Essex Regiment Way at Wheelers Hill roundabout.

The road crosses the River Colne at Halstead, where we meet the former A604 (now the A1124) which originally ran from Kettering to Harwich. After Halstead the road winds it way along until it descends steeply to the Stour Valley at Sudbury, passing under a disused railway viaduct.

2024年2月29日 · Motorists have been warned that there is no access to both the A120 and A131 following a serious crash during the early hours of this morning (February 29). A serious crash occurred at Marks Farm Roundabout in Braintree at around 3.45am, with both major Essex roads blocked as a result.
