Accurate #2 in 9mm? - Cast Boolits
2019年8月29日 · I use AA#2, HP-38 and Ramshot Silhouette in 6 different guns and 8 different bullets. In all I love the HP-38 in all but the 45ACP. Tired it with a number of different weights and just don't like it. The Silhouette has shot well in everything and the AA#2 in order I Love it in the 45, then the 380 and then the 9mm.
Good Load Using Accurate No.2 - Cast Boolits
2022年1月26日 · I do own a g2c and have used AA#2 for reloads using the mihec 125gr fn hp bullet, lee's 124gr tc bullet [IMG] [/IMG] My g2c pictured above is an early version of them, picked it up when they 1st came out. The bbl is fully throated. My understanding is the later/newer g2c's don't have throated bbl's.
AA#2 with 200 lead SWC - Cast Boolits
2014年9月6日 · I've been using Bulseye, Unique and 231 all along but never AA#2 due to good results with the powders I've mentioned. Lately I acquired the #2 powder because beggars cannot be choosers. To make a long story short, I reloaded some .45 ACP rounds with 200 SWC Lyman bullets and 5.5 rains of #2. AA powders suggest starting at 5.2 to 5.8 max.
HS-6 & AA #5 look to have been merged into one product - Cast …
2025年2月14日 · When I look at relative performance AA #5 seemed just slower than HS-6. The St. Marks AA#5 would have been a newer formulation than HS-6. I can see advantages. Slapping HS-6 labels on the St. Marks AA#5 would be a "safe change", would get them to a "new formula" and would consolidate some of their activities (allow bigger bulk purchases).
Question on wads: straight vs taper - Cast Boolits
2022年4月8日 · A tapered wad like a Winchester AA has a gas seal about .700". A straight wad like a Federal 12S3 has a gas seal around .715". It isn't a huge difference. Plus most shot cups are around .730", so technically all plastic wads are tapered. The hull is the main difference. A Winchester tapered hull turns out to be an interference fit with their AA.

Pickin your powder - Page 2 - Cast Boolits
2025年2月9日 · 1) Look at 2-3 reloading manuals and see what looks to give the wanted velocities for my bullet. 2) See if I even have the powder or can get it. 3) Run it through GRT or QL and see if it will burn complete in my firearm (barrel length) and check case fill % & efficiency. 4) Load a few steps, check with the Garmin and look for any pressure issues.
Opinions on AA 9 - Cast Boolits
2024年12月1日 · I’ve used AA#9 a few times in .357 Mag and .357 Sig. I get noticeably cleaner burn with magnum primers in .357 Sig and have only used magnum primers in .357 Mag. It’s a dense ball powder (2400 is a stick powder), so might not be good for your 30-06 nor .223.
HP-38 equivalent - Cast Boolits
2025年2月20日 · The three generally agreed "equivalent" propellants are HP38/W231, H110/W296, and H414/W760, if made after 2008, as noted above by ACC. There are also rumblings about HS-6 and AA#5 becoming closer together (based on loading data), but I think the jury is still out on those two.
Alliant powder equivalents. - Cast Boolits
2025年2月25日 · As a substitute for Red Dot/Promo or IMR-700X in pistols or shotguns, I would expect that AA#2 or HP38/W231 would work reasonably well. For low-velocity cast bullet rounds in small or medium capacity rifle cartridges, I have no idea of how these might work, but I would not be unwilling to try them.
