For the fifth season of America's Best Dance Crew, auditions were held in six cities: Atlanta, Houston, Denver, Los Angeles, Boston, and New York City. Fifteen dance crews were selected and then categorized into three regions: South, East Coast, and West Coast.

America's Best Dance Crew is a reality competition where dance crews showcase their talent and compete for a $100,000 (USD) grand prize and the golden ABDC trophy (a figure of a b-boy doing a freeze, with its legs moving like a bobblehead). Each week, the crews are given a challenge.

Auditions were held in six cities from November 20 through December 12: Atlanta, Houston, Denver, Los Angeles, Boston, and New York. Audition callbacks were held the day after auditions, with evaluations by the TV show judges and members of past ABDC champions.
