AHCI and SSDs. Typically, many hardware review sites, as well as SSD manufacturers are recommending that AHCI mode is used with SSD drives. However, we have run our own tests here in the forum, and we believe this is misleading, only where SSD drives are used independently (ie not in a RAID array).

With consumer desktop HDD's and SSD, my own research suggests that to benefit from AHCI you'll want a 6 GB/s SATA port and SSD, or you'll want to use HDD thats known to show improvement with NCQ. 2015年8月10日 · With my new SSD loaded with Win 10 goodness, I realised I was still operating it in IDE mode. A confident dip into the BIOS to enable AHCI mode resulted in Windows then failing to start because it no longer recognised the boot drive! I'm guessing the AHCI driver wasn't loaded during installation since the mode wasn't in use.

2014年5月23日 · Btw, there are two places at my bios that I can change from IDE to AHCI, at the Onboard SATA6G Controller it was already AHCI, but at Storage configuration / Configure SATA as: was IDE, after I change it to AHCI, Windows did not boot!
