Amit, a.k.a. AJ is the group leader of the AJ Lab. He is an associate professor in the school of basic sciences, IIT Mandi. AJ is also an associate at The Indian Academy of Sciences. Shounak is a DST Inspire Fellow in the AJ Lab.

Team led by AJ bagged the SRISTI GYTI Appreciation Award 2021. Selected as an Associate at The Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, 2020. Received the IIT Mandi Foundation Day award 2021 for excellence in institute service as the chief warden of the Institute.

Our lab was featured by the University of Colorado Cancer Center, focused on RNA in disease and therapeutics. Included was Allison's latest work on HOTAIR m6A methylation in breast cancer, recently updated on bioRxiv .

In 2008, AJ joined the laboratory of Dr. Eric Nestler, then at UT Southwestern, and moved with the lab to the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. In the Nestler lab, AJ studied the transcriptional mechanisms of addiction and depression, further developing skills in molecular biology, biochemistry, electrophysiology, and mouse behavior.
