The AK-100 series is a series of Kalashnikov rifles produced by Izhmash (now Kalashnikov Concern) based upon the AK-74M. Developed shortly after the adoption of the AK-74M in 1991, the AK-100 series formed a "fourth generation" of Kalashnikov rifle designs, and is intended to standardize Russian assault rifle production along the AK-74M.
The AK-100 series is based on the AK-74 assault rifle but features weapons with a range of diferent calibres. The weapons are visually very similar to the AK-74 (see Weapons ID Sheet for ‘AK-74’). However, the design of the folding stock is one obvious distinguishing feature.
