3 天之前 · Temple Am Echad represents the successful merger of two south shore congregations, Temple Emanu-El of Lynbrook and Temple Sinai of Long Island. Temple Emanu-El of Lynbrook was born in 1920 out of a desire to provide a Jewish education to the children of the area.

2 天之前 · During his time at Temple, Howard has served on the Temple Board, Men's Club Board and has been a fixture in the Temple Choir, Kol Echad. After retiring as an attorney with an insurance company in 2021, Howard was seeking a new and meaningful challenge in life and was gratified and honored to have been elected to serve as an officer of the Temple.

HaRav Avraham Hyam Lapin, former Chief Rabbi of South Africa, was invited in 1977 to head a fledgling Orthodox community in San Jose, California. He and his wife, Rebbetzin Maisie, built up the congregation based on Torah values and character refinement. In November 1991, the Rav zt”l unexpectedly passed away.
