The 5900X (IMHO) checks all the right boxes for being a all around great CPU for gaming, work, power users, etc etc. You are correct that P.B.O is along the same lines as iNTELs M.C.E. As for helping in gaming, I think that might be a mixed bag of results.

I play demanding games on high settings like HD2 and total war games, and I’ve never had a temperature spike that lasted more than a few seconds, the fans ramp up a little, then It’s back to smooth sailing.

2022年9月11日 · The temperatures are not bad, averaging 70ºC with a 5900X, its quite nice, although you can put in an extra fan on that cooler. The testing look like gibberish, 70ºC while downloading is awkward and 55ºC CPU stress testing even more.

In general, AMD Ryzens seem to like undervolting (good, more even performance with less heat), but the reason especially you should undervolt is, symptoms point to your system (likely VRM) possibly not being able to feed 5900X and reducing power consumption would likely lead to better performance.
