AMTK 164 leads the "Texas Gulf-Liner" train that ran excursions from League City to Galveston for the annual Mardi Gras celebration. Amtrak 164 and sister idle at the Grand Rapids "Amshack" while passengers disembark the Pere Marquette.

This photo shows #164 in Amtrak's "Phase IV" paint scheme which was previously applied to P42DC #184 but when that unit was repainted back into Phase V in 2023, this unit was selected to be repainted into Phase IV to serve as the new official Phase IV Heritage Unit.

2023年5月12日 · I caught AMTK 164 today working as the second engine on Amtrak #6(26) as it was running three hours late out of Ottumwa, Iowa. The other locomotive on the train was UP 6617 as the leader. Apparently this Zephyr originated in Emeryville this way.

Confirmed via Facebook w/photo, Amtrak P42 164 has been repainted into the Phase IV "Northeast Corridor" livery, the same variant that was painted on the original Phase IV "Heritage" unit 184.
