In 1940, the U.S. Navy started installing the equipment as RAT / RAV sets and the U.S. Army Air Corps introduced the equipment as SCR-274-N after May 1940. In 1943, the Joint Army Navy (JAN) AN/ARC-5 was introduced as successor system. Many receivers and transmitters have similar specifications but are not interchangeable.

2021年11月10日 · Navy ATA/ARA - Army SCR-274N - AN/ARC-5 Command Sets Classic World War II Era Communications Equipment. Pristine units, not already modified in some way, should be left as is. Most units available today have been modified from their original 1940s era design. I haven't seen these radios in 40+ years. I thought they had been discarded years ago!

Of these three series, only one series has the "official" ARC-5 nomenclature (the AN/ARC-5series), which was actually the last of the three series to be introduced (in 1943).
