Arp 147 - Wikipedia
Arp 147 (also known as IC 298) is an interacting pair of ring galaxies. It lies 430 million [4] to 440 million light years away in the constellation Cetus and does not appear to be part of any significant galaxy group. [3] The system was originally discovered in 1893 by Stephane Javelle [5] and is listed in the Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies.
Arp 147 -
Giant Ring of Black Holes - NASA Science
2011年2月14日 · Arp 147 contains the remnant of a spiral galaxy (right) that collided with the elliptical galaxy on the left. This collision has produced an expanding wave of star formation that shows up as a blue ring containing in abundance of massive young stars.
Arp 147 is one of 338 oddball galaxies compiled by astronomer Halton Arp in a book called the Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies. Many of the images in the book, published in 1966, shows what happens when galaxies pass by each other too closely. The gravity of one galaxy tugs on another galaxy, stretching it and creating an irregular shape.
Interacting Galaxies Arp 147 - HubbleSite
2008年10月30日 · Arp 147 appears in the Arp Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies, compiled by Halton Arp in the 1960s and published in 1966. This picture was assembled from WFPC2 images taken with three separate filters. The blue, visible-light, and infrared filters are represented by the colors blue, green, and red, respectively.
APOD: 2008 November 4 - The Double Ring Galaxies of Arp 147 …
This blue galaxy is part of the interacting galaxy system known as Arp 147, and shows a ring because it has recently collided with the other galaxy in the frame, the red galaxy on the left. Unusually, even this red galaxy shows a ring like band, although it is seen nearly edge-on.
IC298 (Arp 147) - Stellar Scenes
This image shows an indistinct but unique-shaped colliding galaxy pair positioned at 3.6 degrees southeast of alpha Ceti (Menkar). A ring-shaped IC298 has a size of 0.5 arc minutes and another one next to the east is IC298A as a collided companion. Both have brightness of at most 14th or 15th magnitude, not subjects to amateur's observation.

A Model for Ring Galaxies: ARP 147--like Systems - NASA/ADS
We have produced a combined stellar and gasdynamical computer model of a pair of interacting galaxies which exhibits many of the features seen in Arp 147. In our model, the ring forms in a disk galaxy following the passage of an equal-mass elliptical galaxy approximately perpendicular through the disk, about two radial scale lengths from the ...
