Data from ATSF 6 - 1927 Locomotive Diagrams supplied in August 2013 by Allen Stanley from his extensive Rail Data Exchange. Locobase 6140 shows the original design as it was built for the St Louis, Rocky Mountain & Pacific (if ever there was a "nutshell" name for a railroad ...) in 1906.

Works numbers were 14332-14334 in June 1895 and 14899-14901 in June 1896. The SF&SJV operated these locomotives on a railroad that Claus Spreckels, the leading sugar refiner on the west coast at the time, financially backed to provide an alternative to the Southern Pacific for use by the Valley's growers.
