The Great Sphinx of Giza, commonly referred to as the Sphinx, known in Arabic as the abu al-Haul (أبو الهول‎) literally meaning the "father of fear", is a limestone statue of a reclining or couchant sphinx that stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt.

يُعتبر أبو الهول أقدم نحت ضخم معروف في مصر وواحد من أشهر التماثيل في العالم. تشير الأدلة الأثرية إلى أنه تم إنشاؤه من قبل قدماء المصريين في عصر المملكة القديمة خلال حكم الفرعون خفرع (حوالي 2558–2532 قبل الميلاد). تعرض أنف أبو الهول للكسر في ظروف غير مؤكدة، تشير الدراسات إلى أن الأنف قد دمر بشكل متعمد باستخدام أدوات حادة مثل قضبان أو إزميل.
