The adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-binding cassette efflux transporter G2 (ABCG2) was originally discovered in a multidrug-resistant breast cancer cell line. Studies in the past have expanded the understanding of its role in physiology, disease pathology and drug resistance.

Morphological assessments of 5w treated cell lines showed rounding of the cells and cell death. Flowcytometric cell cycle analysis revealed that 5w significantly increased the percentage of G2/M phase cells, indicating the G2/M cell cycle arrest in MDA-MB-231, MIA PaCa-2 and DU-145.
