Check with local animal-related organizations. There are many reputable breed-specific or species-specific organizations dedicated to rehoming animals.

If you are looking for a cat with a more reserved personality to join your home, our animal care team in the Adoption Center can match you with the perfect feline! Our available cats are suited for indoor living as companion animals and according to our adoption contract, must not be employed as a barn cat.

The Houston SPCA is open for adoptions every day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointment needed. The Rehoming Center is open by appointment only. There is a $10 non-refundable, appointment fee and appointments are subject to availability. Please call (713) 869-7722 between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM for scheduling.

The Houston SPCA is open for adoptions Monday through Thursday from noon to 7 p.m. and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments are no longer necessary.
