To become registered, an architect must meet stringent standards established by the AIBC. There are three different pathways to registration as an Architect AIBC, depending on your level of education and experience.

This allows the public to search for current AIBC-registered Architects, Intern Architects, Architectural Technologists, Retired Architects, and Firms, and to verify their registration status, employer, location, practice restrictions, and discipline history.

The PGA defines the AIBC’s mandate and governing authority, and sets standard requirements for key elements of professional governance. It also outlines the obligations and standards that all registrants under the PGA must meet.

The Internship in Architecture Program (IAP) is a national program that provides a pathway for intern architects to become registered as Architects AIBC. The IAP process involves mentorship, work experience, professional development and oral reviews.
