The Aichi E13A (Allied reporting name: " Jake ") is a long-range reconnaissance seaplane used by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) from 1941-45. Numerically the most important floatplane of the IJN, it could carry a crew of three and a bombload of 250 kg (550 lb). The Navy designation was " Navy Type Zero Reconnaissance Seaplane " (零式水上偵察機).

The Aichi E12A was a two-seat twin-float reconnaissance floatplane designed in response to a Japanese Navy 12-Shi specification issued in 1937 for an aircraft to replace the Kawanishi E7K2 three-seat reconnaissance seaplane.

2007年5月31日 · Nakajima and Aichi both companies submited all the metal cantilever low mono wings twin float aircraft and received examination of the IJN. Nakajima E12N had a straight line tapered wing, and Aichi E12A had a parabola tapered wing.

The E13A began life as the E12A, a two seat twin-float reconnaissance seaplane designed in response to a Japanese Navy 12-Shi (1937) specification for an aircraft to replace the Kawanishi E7K2 three-seat seaplane. Aichi, Kawanishi and Nakajima were all asked to submit designs to satisfy this specification.

2025年1月1日 · The Aichi E12A is a Japanese experimental reconnaissance seaplane. It was commissioned by the Navy in 1937, but for several reasons the plane was not put into service. At the end of 1938, two prototypes were built. Based on this aircraft, an improved version of the E13A was produced.
