The evolution has gone from visual cues outside the aircraft to in-cockpit digital displays with data-rich views of the environment – and innovators at Airbus are ready to improve this instrumentation once again.

Starting with the A350-1000, Airbus proposes a common symbology on the PFD and HUD centered on a flightpath vector and an energy cue instead of a flight director, supplementing the usual pitch and heading indications to improve situational awareness, and helping incorporating synthetic vision into the PFD.
