Cheapest way to paint an airplane? - Pilots of America
2015年1月5日 · Cheap is often a term people use to rip folks off, I've seen very expensive paint and interior jobs on aircraft which wouldn't even pass for a $199 maco hooptie car paint job. Some stuff needs to be done by aviation folks, engine overhauls, annuals, etc, some stuff you're a rich fool to have a "aviation" shop do it, mainly paint and upholstery.
Is it mandatory to perform a new weight and balance after a paint …
2011年12月14日 · Some small paint shops are operating without being a repair station or having any A&Ps on site. The ones I’m familiar with are having an A&P come in on the last day to balance and sign off the job. Doesn’t seem proper to me. The airframe should at least be inspected for corrosion after paint removal by a licensed mechanic.

Paint Shop Recommendations in Midwest? | Pilots of America
2014年8月30日 · Looking for recommendations of good paint shops in the Midwest (preferably in WI, IL) to paint my top cowl. Unbelievably the shop that has been doing maintenance on my plane screwed up by putting the top cowl on the ground while doing a run-up in very windy conditions and the cowl got blown by the wind across the tarmac.

If you are not the owner of the aircraft then perhaps that should be communicated to the FAA.
Aircraft Paint Scheme Design Software | Pilots of America
2014年7月23日 · Ran into the same problem. I decided to take a picture of the aircraft after it was totally painted White. Then used colored pencils to create the color scheme. Cost of repainting? - Pilots of America
2012年4月24日 · Our club is undergoing a paint project for our Skylane, N55WB. We intentionally over budgeted $12,500 for the job since we chose one of the best in the area (does the work for Van Bortel) and we have our share of dings and small surface corrosion patches we …
Ceramic coating - Pilots of America
2023年12月20日 · The other thing to keep in mind is rivets. It's easy to polish the paint off of them if you are not paying attention. My paint was pretty crazed, so I had to wet sand (1000, 2500 grit steps), Rotary wool pad polish with some pretty abrasive polishing compound, panel wipe with rubbing alcohol then apply ceramic coating.
How long does a paint job last outside? | Pilots of America
2017年10月5日 · The big issue in getting a decent paint job is will they properly strip the old paint off the aircraft. If you get a cheap quote they are probably going to sand the current paint to rough it up and paint over it. Paint is heavy and a sand and spray job will look crappy fast. Pay to have the aircraft properly stripped and repainted.
