Royal Air Force Aird Uig was a Royal Air Force radar station. The station was originally constructed as part of the ROTOR programme and it was operated by the communications ground trades of the RAF between 1954 and 1974.

Royal Air Force Aird Uig was a Royal Air Force radar station located on the western edge of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. The main masts and operations room were located north of the village of Aird Uig on Gallan Head, with a separate domestic site nearer to the village, five-eighths mile (one kilometre) further south.

Aird Uig is a small village of 10 crofts (counting 3a and 3b as two) situated at the end of the road to Gallan Head, on the western side of the Amhuinn Gil na h-Airde. The crofts fan out from the riverside and some were enlarged to take in rocky ground to the east of the river.

2023年2月4日 · Ardroil beach is on the western side of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, a one-hour drive from Stornoway. The beach is often called Uig Sands beach or just Uig beach. Isle of Lewis has some amazing beaches but this is one not to miss! Also keep in mind that this is the beach on Isle of Lewis where tide times matter the most.

RAF Aird Uig was a radio and radar station established at Aird Uig, Gallan Head on Lewis. The site formed part of NATO 's early-warning system which monitored the area for Soviet submarines and aircraft, and was one of three new Centimetric Early Warning (CEW) stations, the others being at RAF Faraid Head and RAF Saxa Vord.

Aird Uig is a small crofting village on the extreme west coast of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. We are a one hour drive from Stornoway and about one and a half hours from Tarbert. You can reach the island by air or by taking a ferry.

To the west of is the small village of Aird Uig and Gallan Head. This area is the site of an old military camp and many of the buildings have been converted. One building, at the top of the village has a very nice cafe. A nice walk from the cafe to the top of the radar station, with good views all around,
