If Kokushibo uses 14 and 16 forms, Akaza's only option is to use End Style : Afterglow which is described to be an omnidirectional innumerous attacks all at once. If anything Akaza is the one that wants the distance because it’s game over for him if he gets close to Gyomei who is the strongest hashira. Both characters do have range, Gyomei with his weapon and Akaza is obvious. However, Akaza can’t do much upclose despite his martial arts background because Gyomei is just insanely strong.
