AKR Superfamily
Members of the AKR7 family can be found in several species. For example AKR7A2 and AKR7A3 are found in humans, AKR7A1 and AKR7A4 are found in rats, and AKR7A5 is found in mice. The purpose of the AKR7 family is typically to reduce aldehyde to alcohol, however some do have more specific functions.

Aldo-keto reductase (AKR) superfamily: Genomics and annotation
Aldo-keto reductases (AKRs) are phase I metabolising enzymes that catalyse the reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (phosphate) (NAD (P)H)-dependent reduction of carbonyl groups to yield primary and secondary alcohols on a wide range of substrates, including aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes and ketones, ketoprostaglan-dins, ketosteroids and...

AKR7A2 aldo-keto reductase family 7 member A2 [ (human)]
Aflatoxin B (1) aldehyde reductase (AKR7A2) was confirmed to be only highly expressed in pancreatic cancer, not in normal adjacent pancreas and benign tumors. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the aldo/keto reductase (AKR) superfamily and AKR7 family, which are involved in the detoxification of aldehydes and ketones.
Molecular cloning, expression and catalytic activity of a human AKR7 ...
1998年5月15日 · This novel human aldo-keto reductase (AKR) has been cloned from a liver cDNA library, and together with the rat protein, establishes the AKR7 family of the AKR superfamily. Unlike its rat homologue, human AFAR (hAFAR) appears to be constitutively expressed in human liver, and is widely expressed in extrahepatic tissues.
The Aldo-Keto Reductase Superfamily and its Role in Drug …
Aflatoxin reductases (AKR7) have a sequence of 4 small α-helixes in place of the long loop between β7 and α7 . In addition AKR7 proteins do not have a β-hairpin structure at the bottom of the barrel. An additional variable loop in AKRs is between β6 and α4 (loop A).
