Imam Djafer Sebkhaoui is the senior imam of Masjid Al-Hidaya in Latham, New York. He came to the capital district through his pursuit of graduate studies at RPI. Participating in the MSA at RPI he went on to co-found the Muslim Community of Troy (MCT) which established the first Masjid Al-Hidaya in Troy and later built the mosque in Latham.

Among the core purposes for the creation of Al-Hidaya Center is to provide Islamic Education. This reflects in the multitude of educational programs which are offered for a diverse set of age groups. Year by year we are experiencing growth in our educational services and currently, we are serving over 1000 students of all ages.

Al-Hidaya Center is a non-profit Islamic community located in Latham, NY, serving the needs of thousands of Muslims in the capital district. With a history dating back to the 70s and 80s, the center has grown from a small room for daily prayers to a two-story house converted into a mosque and classrooms.
