Overall with timely maintenance from the shops, the 2500-hp units were dependable workhorses." Schenectady's production of the upgraded four-axle century between October 1964 and June 1966 topped out at 91 units.

1 天前 · When GE came out with the larger 598 main generator in the U-25 series, the Erie Lackawanna bought U-25Bs and asked Alco if they could build similar units with the 598. The result was the C-425. The D&M/Lake States C-425Ms were a GE Hornell rebuild, using a 12 cylinder 251C rated at 2000 HP. D&H had similar rebuilds done at the same time.

The ALCO Century 425 is a four-axle, 2,500 hp (1,860 kW) diesel-electric locomotive. 91 were built between October 1964 and December 1966. Cataloged as part of ALCO's "Century" line of locomotives, the C425 is an upgraded version of the C424 .

Alco C425 Diesels 2422, Class AF-25, was built in February 1965, #3403-01, as Pennsylvania RR 2422, Class AF-25. It became PC 2422, Class AF-25, in 1968 and Consolidated Railroad Corp 2422, Class C-425, in April 1976.

It became PC 2443, Class AF-25, in 1968 and Conrail 2443, Class C-425, in April 1976. It was renumbered 5077 in October 1979 and retired on December 26, 1979. It was rebuilt by General Electric in February 1981 as DM 181 "Bay City" and was rebuilt in 2000 as C425M-AC. It was sold for scrap on October 20, 2011.
