The Bombardier HR-412, also known as the MLW HR-412, was a 4 axle, 2,400 horsepower (1.8 MW) freight locomotive manufactured in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Ten were built for Canadian National Railway in between September and November 1981, numbered 2580–2589, and one was built for Bombardier as a demonstrator in May 1982, numbered BBD 7000.

The HR-412 carbody was similar to that of the M420 but the HR-616 had a new full width carbody and newly designed controls featuring many lighted rotary switches. These HR-series locomotives were only purchased by CN and were scrapped or sold at about the same time as the older M-420 and C630M / M636 model that they were designed to replace.

Bombardier HR-412 7000, which was built as a 'Test Locomotive' in 1982, is now owned by A&K Railroad Materials and is being used to rip up a branch line in MS. The loco carried the number 3526 and was previously owned by a Canadian short line. 7000, HR412, was built by Bombardier in May 1982, #M6119-01. It was sold as Canadian National 3526.

2001年2月24日 · According to the Kalmbach Shortline Guide (published 96), the Lake State operates freight service from Bay City, MI to La Rocque and from Pinconning to Gaylord plus three branch lines. After my visit in June 99 I can tell that the LSRC operates mainly to Alpena and to Grayling. The principal shops are at Alpena.

2007年2月9日 · I think we should have a classic ALCO/MLW/GE club, devoted to the smokiest engines that existed. Personally i like the RS18’s, RSC-24’s, 70 Tonners, 44 Tonners, M636, and M420W, and HR412’s. This summer i hope to get video and photos of the SMNR HR412 in action, with it’s 251 engine smokin.

I looked up the HR412 at railroadpictures.net. I noticed in 1981 that engine 2535 was 1 of 8 locos destroyed in a head-on at Lac Bouchette in August 1981. By looking at the numbers there might have been 3 HR412's involved.
