Responding to thousands of requests from teachers and social workers across the country, Alice’s Kids gives children a lift by paying for these items - and we do so in a way that avoids shaming the child or their parent.

Alice's Kids a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization founded by Ron Fitzsimmons and Laura Fitzsimmons Peters in 2011 in memory of their mother. It provides targeted assistance to children under 12 years of age in the US. [5][6]

We lived that pain because, in the early 1960’s, our family received monthly welfare payments that barely covered the cost of rent and food. We soon became known as “the welfare kids.” Our mother - Alice - did whatever she could to pick up extra cash, and when she got paid, she proudly ran home to announce to us that we were going shopping!

Alice’s Kids preserves a child’s dignity with anonymous, guilt-free assistance. Alice’s Kids has a national network of teachers, social workers, police staff and others who, upon identifying a child with a specific need, send us a request for help.

Alice’s Kids is a non-profit organization that will provide short term financial assistance to children with an immediate need. 2020年9月8日 · Spotting a niche in the world of charity, Fitzsimmons and Peters co-founded a nonprofit, Alice’s Kids, named after their mother. The Virginia-based organization has helped children in 34 states and the District of Columbia. Its goal is to raise needy children’s self-esteem by providing what might seem “life’s little things.”

They were forced to rely on welfare payments which barely paid for food and rent but the experience gave him a unique perspective on the challenges faced by children living in poverty. Those experiences ultimately led to the formation of Alice’s Kids. Mr. Fitzsimmons spent most of his working years in the national political arena.
