2024年4月25日 · When Alif is combined with Zabar, Zer, or Pesh, a short "a", "i", or "u" is produced. At the beginning of a word, in the absence of any vowel marker, Alif is assumed to be the short "a". In medial or final positions, an unmarked Alif is generally assumed to be a long "ā". Thus, "ab" can be written اَب or اب.
