Hornady AMAX VS Sierra Matchking 168GR | Sniper's Hide Forum
Jun 15, 2011 · Amax's double as a pretty good hunting bullet too from what I hear. That may come in handy for you in those beanfields this fall. These newer 155gr bullets that have come on the market in the past several years do very well in the faster twist barrels also because thier bearing surface is so long, like the heavies.
Terminal Performance? - Hornady's New ELD Match vs. Old A-Max
Jan 4, 2017 · I see this issue on Amax and ELD match bullets was talked about in January but thought I would add my two cents, Rt2506 is right on when he says Amax bullets was listed as hunting bullets. I think they may have changed the classification to sell the newer bullet styles , anyways I have never used the match ELD bullets but have tried the new ELD ...

50 BMG - RL50 and 750 Amax? | Sniper's Hide Forum
Feb 29, 2024 · Here's my notes on RL-50 for the 750gr AMAX out of my Barrett M82A1: "Hit lands at 5.809, test at -30 thousands or 5.779. John's reloading book say 5.730 max length & 235gr max powder charge. Not sure for what specific gun. Need to test 230.0gr RL 50 with 750 Amax. Alliant says 239 gr out of 24 " barrel gets you 2835 fps seated at 5.730"
Hornady ELD M vs A MAX - Sniper's Hide
Nov 6, 2022 · They have a different tip material and were redesigned when changing to the ELD-M line so you get a higher BC from that. The 168 ELD-M is a much better long range bullet. The limited AMAX bullets of any caliber are around mostly for …
Hornady A-MAx Bullets - any good for hunting?
Apr 24, 2004 · Ive shot a huge bodied muley at 30 yds with a 178 Amax out of my 308 (aprox 2435 fps) and it was perfect bullet performance. Amax for hunting? | Long Range Hunting Forum – Expert Gear …
Oct 2, 2016 · Everyone has their opinion, but I only shoot the Amax for hunting. I took an antelope at over 900 yards last year with a .260 (140gr Amax) and it never took a step. I have shot many deer, antelope and elk from ranges of 60 yards to over 900 with an Amax (.264 and .308) and have never lost an animal. The Amax seems to devastate at any feasible ...
Hornady 168gr A-Max vs 168gr BTHP | Sniper's Hide Forum
Feb 10, 2013 · The 168 the Amax has the BC advantage, and if you ever decide to harvest a deer with it, the Amax will perform. If you plan to extend your range, then a 178 match or Amax may the better choice. You can work the numbers and a 168 @2700 and 178@2650 look exactly the same on paper, but all I have shot put the 178 ahead for wind.
Advice: A-Max in .300 Win Mag - Long Range Hunting Forum
Oct 16, 2017 · I haven´t used the amax in a 30 cal, just in a 7 rm. Out of those two I´d go with the heavier Amax, it is a light construction bullet and with the 168 I´d say you run a bigger risk of an externally exploding bullet not penetrating enough. The 162 7 cal. has performed well in mt goats from close range out to 500 m.
Hornady A-Max Bullets | Sniper's Hide Forum
Jan 10, 2009 · The AMAX bullets are excellent. I use the 178 AMAX in the .308, 140 AMAX in the 6.5 Creedmoor and 208 AMAX in the 300WM. Granted we are sponsored but Hornady but I would use them even if I wasn't as they shoot great and are usually cheaper too. When I first started shooting them I was very pleasantly surprised like you.
