While the deep-south sky represents perhaps just 30 percent of the entire celestial sphere, it contains arguably the best of everything in the sky: the best nebulas, the best star clusters, the best galaxies, and certainly the best view of our own galaxy, the Milky Way.

My photos and videos have appeared on Spaceweather.com, Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD), Universe Today, Forbes, National Geographic, TIME, NBCNews, and CBSNews. Since my first "TSE" in February 1979, I have travelled the world to see 17 total solar eclipses.

As an amateur astronomer, my interests include astrophotography and deep-sky observing (I compiled some of the popular deep-sky observing lists in the annual RASC Observer’s Handbook). I take the opportunity as often as possible to visit the southern hemisphere to pursue both observing and photography under southern skies.

My channel features time-lapse movies of the night sky, plus instructional videos on nightscape and time-lapse techniques.

I illustrate the entries with an eclectic mix of favourite and recent images, from shots of daytime phenomena to long-exposures of deep-sky objects.

A collection of Galleries of deep-sky objects, including nebulas, star clusters, galaxies, and the Milky Way. Included are Messier objects and NGC/IC objects, suitable for illustration in astronomy guidebooks and magazine articles.
