Andal (ISO 15919: Āṇḍāḷ), also known as Godhai, Nachiyar, and Godha Devi, is the only female Alvar among the twelve Hindu Vaishnava poet-saints of South India. She is an avatara of the earth goddess Bhumi, a consort of the preserver god Vishnu. [1] . As with the Alvar saints, she was affiliated with the Sri Vaishnava tradition of Hinduism.
