Andy Kubik. Technical Sergeant Andrew D. Kubik served with distinction in the U.S. Air Force. Enlisting at 18, Kubik became a Combat Controller with the elite 23rd Special Tactics Squadron. On November 23, 2001, during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, Kubik’s unit was ambushed by Taliban forces near Kandahar.
