Some LGBT people in Angola have reported being harassed by people who believe that they are immoral, and the Angola Government allegedly refused to accept the Israeli ambassador because he was gay. Yet, signs of more liberal attitudes do exist.

Homosexual activity in Angola is legal. In early 2019, in addition to introducing discrimination protections, the Angolan parliament abolished the colonial-era criminalisation of same-sex sexual activity.

The LGBTQIAP+ community in Angola is made up of people who, because of their gender identity and expression, sexual orientation and sexual practices, challenge traditional gender social norms in relation to the roles expected for women and men in society.

Until 2019, Angola maintained a colonial-era prohibition on non-consensual same-sex activity, which was frequently employed to prosecute consensual same-sex conduct, punishable by up to two years in prison.
