2015年6月7日 · DonG, It could indeed be a logging tool. Up until the roads were improved and heavy trucks were made large tracts were timbered by railroad. Many of those large lumber companies owned and maintained their own locos and cars and had track crews laying rail.

2013年5月22日 · The logging tool is a SWING DOG. Used to break up logging jams in the river. Joe Peavy saw the problem the loggers were having with the dog and went back to his blacksmith shop and built the PEAVY in1855 in Bangor, Maine.

The other is a 60" plain tooth bucking saw similar to your second to last one, except for the tooth style. I had to replace the handles on the felling saw.

I recently replaced my LS 1018 - 10" saw ( younger but only 10 years old cousin) with Makita's best biggest miter saw LS 1219L. I used the 10" on a Dewault portable stand for the last years of my contracting business.

2010年8月24日 · Don't worry too much about the collectability value of old tools. 95% of the antique tools out there aren't even worth what their brand new tool equivalents sell for. For instance, if you bought a Stanley No 8 Bench Plane at a yard sale for $20.00 and your buddy comes over and says "Don't use that, it's an antique collectable that's worth $150!"
